Numerous podiums for Birel ART and PSL at Newcastle

New Castle, Indiana - USA. With back to back races for the Birel ART North American team, PSL put down a huge effort at this year’s SKUSA Summer National’s at the New Castle Motorsports Park.

In what could be considered the most competitive class of the event, the TAG senior program carried 65+ entries in the all Iame X-30 field. Oliver Askew (P1 Engines) overcame difficult conditions Sunday with a P2 qualifying effort after a small error on Saturday. Mason Marotta (P1 Engines) put up an equally strong performance with a P6. Redlin suffered carb issues, and was stuck fighting throughout the heats.

Eventually, Askew and Marotta would start P4 and P10 in the main, working through corners 1 and 2 together, with Marotta losing a chain in corner 4, retiring from the race. Askew would go on to finish P3 in the final. Official PSL pilot, Dylan Tavella (Woltjer), after 3 weeks of non-stop racing, would have to start Sunday’s main at the back after a sporting DQ in both heats, however, Dylan put down fast laps with each circuit, proving the success of the Birel ART RY-30.

In S2, Austin Schimmel would fight through the heats and encounter more bad luck, which has seemed to follow him for the last few events. Schimmel would go on to impress the team, despite a carb issue in the final.

Official factory driver, Rick Dreezen, came into this year’s Summer Nats as the S1 points leader, however a damaged shift linkage would force him to nurse his DR-01-KZ Ricciardo kart back to the finish just outside the top 10.

“Our momentum for 2015 is like no other; without the hard work from our mechanics and partners at Birel ART our results would not have been possible this weekend. We’re coming back stronger for Vegas!” - Andrew Campbell, T.M., Birel ART North America.
