Birel ART kicks off US Open with style in Texas

This weekend, the inaugural round of US Open proved to be a complete success for the entire PSL/Birel ART Official Team. In Shifter Senior, CJ Cramm (CRY-30/Swedetech) demonstrated his personal strength in the wet conditions with consistent laps and a solid P2 finish in the final, earning the first podium finish for the Team at the US Open.

DD2 Masters driver, Luis Zervigon (CRY-30-RX/GKS), the newest member to the Birel ART Official team, held off Falcone GP Birel ART pilot for the entire 14 lap final. In the end, Luis would cross the line in P2, however a technical infraction would move Luis to P1. Ferenc Kancsar (CRY-30-RX/ GKS) made his debut with PSL in DD2 along side team mate Alessandro Bizzotto. Together they would qualify P1 and P2 respectively, with Kancsar eventually claiming P2 in the final and Bizzotto just finishing outside the top 5.

Oliver Askew (RY-30/GKS) put down mega pace each session in Senior Max throughout all the heats at Dallas Karting Complex. In the final, Askew would attack for the lead in corner 1, putting a 2.8 second gap on P2, and cruised to victory with the fastest lap.

In Shifter Elite, Jordon Lennox-Lamb started the final in P4 but contact with surface water and an error on the start forced him to finish P2, however Jordon was able to set the fastest lap by .3ths over Davide Fore. “We were absolutely thrilled with the results this weekend” - Andrew Campbell, Team Manager Birel ART North America. “Askew took control of the heats giving him a prime starting position in the final with very difficult competition. In addition, the RY-30 chassis performance was quite strong in the low-grip conditions allowing him to pull away early to build the necessary gap for the win. With 5 podiums this weekend, we would like to especially thank all the team mechanics. We are becoming stronger with each race meeting and showing the true capability of the Birel ART product.”
